Interesting
things on the internet.
It might be that I am spending too much of my time on the internet visiting
other peoples websites. However, the interrnet can be a treasure trove of
interesting information, entertainment, peoples points of view and more
besides. Many times I have encountered websites where the author has
posted an article and the follow up comments on the article (follow up
comments are where visitors to a website, well blog usually, have an
opportunity to leave comments or feedback etc). The idea is to comment on
or leave feedback about the article on that page and when it's relevant
replies to the topic at hand sometimes interesting discussions can develop
right there on the article page. In some cases lengthy discussions can end
up being more lengthy than the article was originally.
Pretty great
really the way the internet has allowed so many people worldwide a chance
to publish their own websites and share their own content or ideas or
opinions with others. And again these others that information or points of
view etc are being shared with can be worldwide. It isn't uncommon for
people that engage in online discussions on one persons website to be an
author on their own website either, and by clicking on other links in
conversations I have found my way onto other websites which sometimes have
interesting opinions information or conversations of their own to read.
Pretty cool.
Spoilt for choice on tv these days or
not?
Older readers may remeber when there was just
a mere three tv channels to choose from here in the uk. In the age of no
video recorders, let alone dvd players, one had to settle for a choice of
what one of three tv stations were broadcasting at the time if an evening
infront of the television was being planned. Eventually a fourth
terrestrial tv channel and then a 5th made its way onto the airwaves. In
these days however of satellite and cable tv channels and a wealth of
channels broadcasting at any one time, some day and night, its quite a
contrast to those days years ago where tv channels numbered 1 2 and 3 and
stations even stopped broadcasting during the early hours of the night or
morning.
With the large number of available tv channels comes a
large number of programme choices too. Although you know what, sometimes
theres like 3 things at the same time on different channels that all seem
interesting and one has to make the choice which one to pick and yet other
times it's difficult to find something at that precise moment and you
kinda wish that one of the films or programmes you missed the other night
was on that night instead.
Whats in a
name?
What's in a name when it comes to
naming your own blog or website featuring a variety of topics or musings?
Should one go for something descriptive, perhaps some hip cool web savvy
jazzy and catchy name or maybe even just go for the first name surname
.com variety. As to the answer, I don't know, but i trust the name of this
website will be ok. Why the name, well, dont want to use a name for it and
couldn't come up with anything suitbly jazzy hip, descriptive or better
than this. Maybe eventually this websites content will make up for what it
may (or may not) lack in web 2.0ness and jazzy catchy website names.
Should everyone be starting up their own websites or blogs or what have
you, well, i guess thats for each individual to decide on, but for anyone
interested in staking their piece of virtual land on the information super
highway, who knows, if you try it, you might like it.
